Chetwynde pupils celebrate amazing grades at GCSE

Pupils at Chetwynde School were celebrating after securing an array of impressive grades in their GCSE examinations.

The Year 11 pupils returned to school to collect their results, celebrate with staff and friends and mark the successful end of their time at the all-through Rating Lane school.

Many will now go on to study A levels T Levels and other further education courses, while others have secured sought-after apprenticeships, training opportunities and employment.

Among the highest achievers were Oliver Wielkopolski, who achieved four grade 9s and seven grade 8s, and will head to Lancaster Grammar to study three A Levels along with aspiring medic Milan Nair who secured a grade 9 and seven grade 8s.

Alex Williams, who achieved 4 grade 9s and a grade 8, and aspiring vet Emilia Washington will both continue their studies at Ulverston Sixth Form.

Meanwhile Ellie Walker’s excellent results ensured she will begin an apprenticeship with BAE Systems next month.

Chetwynde Headteacher Steve Jefferson, who is also Acting Chief Executive Officer at South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust, congratulated all the pupils on their achievements.

“We are incredibly proud of every one of our Year 11 pupils and the results they have achieved.

“This has been a hugely important year for them and they have shown resilience and commitment throughout their GCSE studies. They should take enormous pride in what they have accomplished.

“For some, today marks the completion of their education with us since kindergarten. Others joined in Year 7 and have gone on to become stars of our school community.

“Whatever path they choose going forward, we know they leave us with the skills, confidence and ambition to take their next steps carrying the values of our school – respect, responsibility, resilience – and all the additional benefits a Chetwynde education brings.

“I would also like to recognise the fantastic support provided by our teachers, support staff, families, governors and the wider South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust community. Their hard work, encouragement and commitment have played an important part in helping our pupils reach this point.

“We wish every member of our Year 11 cohort the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about all the great things they go on to achieve.”
