Chetwynde School staff recognised at SCMAT Awards

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of seven exceptional members of staff who have been recognised at this year’s SCMAT Staff Awards.

The annual awards celebrate colleagues from across the Trust who embody SCMAT’s core values of Inspire, Succeed and Contribute, recognising the dedication, professionalism and care they bring to their roles every day. We are incredibly proud of our staff and the positive difference they make to the lives of our pupils, families and the wider school community.

Unsung Hero (Succeed)

Sophie Smith (Primary) received the Unsung Hero Award in recognition of her unwavering commitment and exceptional work ethic. Sophie consistently gives 100 per cent, always stepping forward to provide additional support wherever it is needed across Kindergarten and Primary. Despite significant changes this year, particularly within wraparound care, she has shown remarkable adaptability, ensuring children continue to receive the highest standard of care. Her outstanding attendance record and willingness to go above and beyond make her a truly deserving winner.

Mike Rollins (Secondary) was recognised for his outstanding reliability, positivity and flexibility throughout the year. Always willing to step in wherever support is needed, Mike approaches every challenge with good humour, lifting the spirits of colleagues with his trademark jokes and one-liners while quietly making an invaluable contribution to the smooth running of the school.

Jo Massey-Holmes (Secondary) received an Unsung Hero Award for her exceptional commitment to pupils and colleagues within the Learning Development Unit. During a particularly challenging year, Jo stepped up to help lead the provision, supporting staff and students with professionalism, compassion and a smile. She has built outstanding relationships with some of the school’s most vulnerable pupils, whose trust and respect are testament to her kindness, dedication and unwavering support.

Community Champion (Contribute)

Chris Wilson (Primary) was recognised as Community Champion for the positive difference he makes every day beyond his role as the school’s minibus driver. Chris has built strong relationships with pupils and families, supporting improved attendance, assisting with educational visits and even taking on lunchtime supervision to help the school when needed. His willingness to go the extra mile makes him an invaluable member of the Chetwynde community.

Derek Dickinson (Secondary) received the Community Champion Award in recognition of the pride and care he takes in the school environment. Regularly staying beyond his working hours to ensure the school remains clean, tidy and welcoming, Derek’s dedication and commitment often go unseen but are deeply appreciated by colleagues and pupils alike.

Inspirational Innovator (Inspire)

Kianna Boswell (Primary) was recognised for her exceptional flexibility, professionalism and dedication to supporting children. Throughout the year, Kianna has undertaken a variety of roles, always embracing new challenges with enthusiasm. Her outstanding one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND has had a transformational impact, enabling the child to flourish both academically and socially. Her compassion, adaptability and commitment make a real difference every day.

Jo Holmes (Secondary) received the Inspirational Innovator Award for her outstanding contribution as a Biology teacher and valued member of the Science department. Josephine consistently inspires her students through high-quality teaching while also providing invaluable support to colleagues. Her willingness to take on additional responsibilities, organise cover work and ensure continuity during challenging periods has made a significant impact across the department.
