Young Voices 2025

School choirs and singing groups from across South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust raised the roof when they took part in Young Voices 2025.

Pupils from Chetwynde, Ormsgill, Vickerstown, South Walney Juniors, Cambridge Primary and Newbarns Primary and Nursery School all enjoyed the event in Manchester.

Young Voices is known as the heartbeat of music for primary schools across the UK. It aims to unite children and teachers an electrifying choir experience – helping children discover their voices, gain confidence and create lasting memories.

SCMAT CEO Professor Andrew Wren said it was fantastic to see Trust-wide representation at the prestigious event.

“Our pupils love to sing and their voices joined those from other schools, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved. The dedication of our teachers who lead our music activities and the support from parents made this possible and I would like to thank them all for making this happen.”

The event was held on what would have been Bob Marley’s 80th birthday and the children sang a medley of his songs, supported by Tommy, the lead singer in the Strictly Come Dancing band. Bob’s daughter, Cedella Marley, also sent a message of support.

South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust is committed to music as an integral part of the curriculum and specialist teachers are part of the Trust’s professional network for music.

SCMAT will hold its second Trust-wide concert for World Music Day in June with the music group of more than 220 pupils across the MAT schools uniting in a performance to showcase their talent.
